Alignment of free-standing MOF crystals

Our group has demonstrated that we can magnetically align free-standing MOF crystals such as NU-1000 or NH2-MIL-53(Al) in different fluid matrices. We believe that this first example of dynamic MOF alignment control will have wide-reaching impact in our ability to exploit MOF anisotropic properties.

Our group has just shown the first example of dynamic control over the orientation of MOF crystals. We believe that this work will have far-reaching consequences in scientists' ability to manipulate MOF materials, and to exploit the anisotropic properties prevalent in most MOFs.
